I am here

The world didn’t give it, the world can’t take it away.

Last night I was fortunate enough to attend an event that I hope I never forget. It’s called Together Live and to call it beautiful would be an understatement.

These ladies in no particular order deserve a standing O.

Glennon Doyle

Abby Wambach

Maysoon Zayid

Resistance Revival Chorus

Michelle Buteau

Amena Brown

Amanda Gorman

Cameron Esposito

Jennifer Rudolph Walsh

These women got up on stage (which scares me to begin with) to tell their stories. To tell the stories that changed their lives forever. To tell the stories that we as women need to hear, to understand who is going before us and who is paving the way. We live in a time of true hope in the world, true faith in ourselves, and true love for all. We cannot function any other way.

They used art, comedy, disability, laughter, love, storytelling, poetry and more to reach everyone who needed to hear their stories. It felt so organic. It felt so free. You could see these women have been through things that no human should ever have to face, yet here they were opening up to an audience of people who were on the edge of their seats to soak in every word.

There was an energy in the room of reverence and resilience. Many of the people on stage I had never heard of before going, yet I left wondering “who are these women?” because in a way they felt otherworldly. They were so comfortable being uncomfortable, allowing their words to flow and their hearts to flood open.

It was two and a half hours of realness, rawness, and zero BS and I loved every second of it.

THANK YOU to From Where She Sits for recognizing the power and importance of women coming together to talk about REAL issues and to be vulnerable and to be unapologetically themselves and for sharing this night.
